Minnetonka Moccasins Home Page

America’s favourite moccasins for generations, Minnetonka are famous for their style, comfort and quality.  If you’ve never worn a pair you’re in for a treat.  In Our Passion you can find out more about them, how they’re made and why we think everyone deserves at least one pair.

Moosehide
Moosehide moccasins are a bit special and unique to the UK.  The wild moose come from the arctic regions where they are an important source of food.  The thick, soft hide is a wonderfully luxurious by-product.

Our Moosehide moccasins are hand finished with hand sewn uppers and, as with anything of real quality, the older they become, the better they get. Someone described them as ‘cashmere for your feet’.

Deerskin
Genuine Deerskin is a beautiful, lightweight butter-soft leather and a traditional material used for making moccasins. Some of our finest moccasins are made in deerskin, sewn and finished by hand.  You may find the odd mark but this is only a natural characteristic of this fine, supple leather.

Our Passion

Most modern shoes have the sides glued or sewn to the sole. In genuine moccasin shoes and boots, like Minnetonka, the sides and sole are one piece of leather sewn to the upper. This allows the whole shoe to flex and shape itself to your foot and is the reason they’re so comfortable and breathable.

We use top quality, vegetable dyed leathers, no chemicals are used in the tanning process and our more expensive moccasins are finished and sewn by hand.

Madonna once told Manolo Blahnik that his shoes were as good as sex and they lasted longer.  If his shoes are like sex then ours are like a long, lingering embrace.

U.S Import Caution

While all U.S Authorised Minnetonka Internet sellers are reputable businesses, the prices advertised in no way represent the true cost of buying online from the States.  Importing from the U.S into the UK or EU incurs extra charges.
On top of the advertised price you will have to pay postage.  Customs and Excise add this amount to the value of the goods and charge VAT at 17.5% on the combined amount.  In addition they charge duty on the value of the goods and because the company sending you the goods only describe them, rather than give a specific customs code, you are invariably over-charged.
Lastly, the carrier picking up the goods, usually from the U.S Postal Service, will make a Clearance Charge of between £15 to £20.
By the time they write to you asking for payment of all these additional charges, the cost of your goods will have at least doubled the original price.
It’s up to you but at least you know the facts

How do Minnetonka Moccasins feel?

When people discover Minnetonka Moccasins they love to tell their friends and family about them.  Happily, they also like to tell us.  If, having bought a pair, you’d like to tell us about yours, send us an email and we might publish it here.

I’m thrilled with my Minnetonka’s.  I have two pairs of suede Kilty’s and some Tramper boots.  I’m a fashion buyer and I spend hours on my feet. I’ve rarely worn anything as comfortable or so wearable with so many different clothes.  They’re brilliant.
From Lily, London.

As a hairdresser I spend the whole day on my feet.  It was great to discover Minnetonka.  I bought some Moosehide driving moccasins and some suede slippers that I ruined in the rain because I couldn’t bear to take them off!  I’ll need some more and my assistant wants some too.
From Russell, Hoxton, London.

I’m a student at St. Martins School of Art in London and since wearing my moosehide driving moccasins everyone wants to know where I got them.  Now you’ve got a website I can tell them where to go and they can leave me is blissful peace.
From Silas. London

I’d been looking for some knee high lace up suede boots for ages and yours are exactly what I wanted.  They’re sooooo comfortable and never hot.  They look great with jeans or skirts. Now I see Kate Moss is wearing them – she always copies me!
From Sophie, UK.

I always used to wear leather boat soles but not since discovering your Weekend moccasins in Moose Hide.  They’re a revelation!
From Jonathan, Bexhill.

I’m crazy for your double bottom softsole moosehide moccasins. I wear them in the studio, for shopping, for driving, everywhere in the house – wish I could walk the dogs in them but can’t get them wet!  Please make some with a hard sole.
From Martin, Camden Town.

Ever since I got a pair of your deerskin moccasins people have been asking me where did you get them?  I told them to go to your website.  I think I might have to buy another pair in a different colour – people will think I only have one pair of shoes!
From Trudie, Hampstead.

They’re kkkking wonderful!
From Mark, Manchester.

Advice on sizes
Because all Minnetonka Moccasins are made in American sizes, when your order arrives, the sizes in the shoes and on the box will appear as US sizes.
However, for your convenience when ordering from this website we show sizes in UK and EU sizes and these are the sizes you should stick to.

If in doubt use the following guidelines:

In Women’s sizes, the US size is numerically 2 more than UK, for Men’s it’s numerically 1 more.

For example:
If you’re a Woman’s UK 5 you need a US 7.  If you’re a UK5 ½'5f and the style is available in half sizes, then a US7 ½'5f should fit a narrow to average foot.

If you’re foot is broader than average or you like an easy fit, a US 8 will probably fit better.

For men’s sizes the same principle applies.  A men’s UK 10 is a US 11. If you’re a UK10 ½'5f and the style comes in half sizes then a US 11 ½'5f fits a narrow to average foot but if you’ve a broad foot go up to the next whole size.

Where no half size is available, you should always choose the nearest larger whole size.
